JOB SUMMARY

The Process Control Engineer is responsible for designing and developing new control systems and ensuring their optimal performance to support the attainment of business goals.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Designing and developing new control systems

Review automation and control designs for consistency and technical accuracy

Review existing data for adequacy; gather or oversee the collation of additional data and information if required

Testing, maintaining and modifying existing systems

Working collaboratively with design engineers, operation engineers, purchasers and internal staff

Make recommendations for process improvement and automation requirements with supporting justification

Design or redesign of processes to improve operational performance

Understanding and ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and quality standards

Manage automation and control activities

Provide ongoing technical support for automated control systems

Maintain control system documentation for automated systems, advance process control, and real time optimization

Participate in project planning and implementation; manage nor provide support on cross-functional projects

Identify information and control applications that help achieve maximum profitable operation

Work with the relevant officers to develop process improvement and automation plans and projects as required; review processes/operations, capture requirements and undertake other supporting tasks

Provide advisory support to management and staff on the subject

Develop training documents and organize technical training or information/control systems applications

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Sound knowledge of process operations, process control systems and computer system validation methodologiesKnowledge of PLC (Rockwell, Siemens, Wago), SCADA (Rockwell, Siemens), HMI Rockwell, Siemens), Flow Computers (Prosoft, OMN, Batch controllers (Accuload, Multiload), Terminal Management SystemKnowledge of systems communication technology (OPC, ControlNet, DeviceNet, ProfitNet, ProfiBus, Modbus, and TCP IP protocols); Knowledge of MS SharepointKnowledge of Field InstrumentationsKnowledge of Visual Basics, VBA, DatabaseKnowledge of Electrical Control Panels, Electrical field wiring and Understand Electrical DrawingsProject Management

REQUIREMENT AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline

Relevant Master’s degree and or professional certification is an added advantage

Minimum six (6) years of experience in process control and automation
